Being the day before a national holiday, the faculty at Emma Willard are given the day off…making the campus even more quiet than it already is in its current summer state. However, not everyone is missing… Some of the greatest people you will ever meet are still on campus. Who are they, and why are they on campus if no one else has to be? The answer is that they are members of the Emma Willard Security Team (seen above). Always attentive and extremely kind, the EWS security guards are there to watch over the Emma Willard community 24/7/365. So whether you have a problem when it’s 15 below zero, or you’re looking for someone to let you into your office the day before a national holiday because you felt compelled to put in a few extra hours- security is always there for you, and always there to help.
Thanks guys!

Phila is a philanthropy practicum of 12 students that work to help non-profit organizations both locally and internationally. Thanks to the generosity of an anonymous alumna and her husband, Phila begins each year with $4,000 to give away. They accept grant applications and take the time to make thoughtful decisions.

Seniors returned from their retreat this afternoon in time for senior tea, a long-stranding tradition at Emma. The school’s teacup collection was increased significantly in the past two years with donations from alumnae, parents, and friends of the school. Each senior selects a cup from the collection for her tea. Miss Kellas’s silver tea service was on display, and each senior took home a commemorative silver spoon.
The Albany Field Office of the US Committee for Refugees and Immigrants is holding a gala on June 20, 5 p.m. – 9 p.m. on World Refugee Day. The gala is being hosted by Emma Willard School and will be held in Lyon-Remington Hall on the Emma Willard campus. The evening includes a silent auction, live entertainment by acclaimed performers who are themselves immigrants and refugees, a photography exhibition by refugees, and a Mediterranean dinner catered by Lily & The Rose. All proceeds from the Gala and Silent Auction directly support newly-arriving refugees in the Capital Region, providing them with food, clothing, shelter and utilities. USCRI also welcomes donations of items for the Silent Auction to help raise additional funds for refugees. Popular items include gift certificates for restaurants, travel, and beauty services; art work and jewelry; and passes to museum and events.
