Prelude to Halloween

At this morning’s reports, the Proctors dressed up for Halloween and gave fellow students a preview of Friday’s events. Besides trick-or-treating, there will be a costume parade and a scary tour of Emma’s “Back 40” woods. Trudy Hanmer speaks to alumnae

Associate Head of School Trudy Hanmer traveled to Washington, DC on Thursday, October 23 to read from Chapter 1 of the book she is writing on the history of Emma Willard School. Over 40 alumnae and guests attended the event at the Tabard Inn off of Dupont Circle.

JV victory

On October 14 the JV soccer team had a home game against Hoosac Falls. It was a great game; Emma scored multiple goals, winning 5-0. Congratulations to Sarah R. and Ayesha R. for some amazing plays.

Political forum

Since this is an important election year, the history department wanted to invite some politicians to speak with students. We narrowed it down to the congressional race of Tonko v. Burhmaster and the senate seat of McDonald v. Russo. Tonko and Buhrmaster were interested, but, unfortunately, couldn’t make it work with their busy schedules. [...]

On October 10, 70 students went to the newly opened Experimental Media and Performance Art Center (EMPAC) at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute to watch a dance performance by Richard Siegal. Bread for all

 
Emma Willard students spent their Sunday afternoon baking some delicious bread in the 2-E Café under the supervision of guest baker Michelle Elliot. Everyone enjoyed the experience and left with an amazing recipe to bring back home.
