40 Years of Service
During today’s assembly, Trudy Hall honored Armand Herald, who came to the facilities department in 1968 and who is retiring next week. Armand was presented with a replica of the Chapel tower with working clock, hand-carved by Ken McGivern, assistant director of facilities, who spent at least 130 hours on the project. Houseparent and director of community service Stacey Dodd gave this morning’s inspirational speech. A Piece of My Heart
This past weekend, students performed Shirley Lauro’s A Piece of My Heart, which follows six American women, their experiences during the Vietnam War, and their journeys since. The setting of the play bounces between 1982, when the Vietnam War Memorial was dedicated in Washington, to the Vietnam War era itself.

Hawaii or New York?
On Wednesday evening, students volunteered their time and efforts at Emma Willard’s first student phonathon of the academic year. The event was held in the Laundry building with a Hawaiian luau theme. Twenty-four student callers secured 157 gifts totaling $19,805 for the EWS Annual Fund.
