Emma in the Senate

 
New York State Governor David Paterson named U.S. Rep. Kirsten Gillibrand, D-Greenport, to replace Hillary Clinton in the U.S. Senate at noon today. Kirsten is a 1984 graduate of Emma Willard School. Listen to the school’s Morning Reports announcement here.

Inauguration Day at Emma

The Emma Willard school community gathered throughout campus when Barack Obama was inaugurated as the 44th president of United States. The academic schedule was altered to accommodate the timing of this historic event. The event was projected on a big screen while students ate lunch.

Brave the Blizzard, Emma style

 
Despite the cold weather outside on Sunday, students signed up to go to the Brave the Blizzard snowshoe race, the biggest snowshoe race in the Northeast. This was the first time snowshoeing for many of the students participating. The race was 3.9 miles and about 170 participants came from around the area to the race. [...]
