Alexis '11 poses as an astronaut
Twenty Emma girls were very fortunate to visit the Space Telescope Science Institute and the Goddard Space Flight Center in Baltimore, Maryland. The trip took place April 8–10 and was made possible through the generosity of Emma Willard alumna Carla Smith ’74. The girls enjoyed talking to scientists and engineers about the upcoming servicing flight to the Hubble Telescope and the technology and behind-the-scenes preparation that occurs in order to operate the telescope. Among the major highlights of the trip, Emma ladies enjoyed learning about the career opportunities available in the science and math fields.
