Raspberry fields forever

On Saturday, a group of boarders from Kellas 2T traveled to Salem, NY, for a fun day of raspberry picking and rural roads. Student Tech Crew

Denise ‘12 upgrades the memory on one of Emma’s Toshiba tablet computers.  She is part of the student tech services crew.  Denise and her cohorts are currently learning the ins and outs of computer care and maintenance.  Expect to see her and the rest of the crew working a help desk near you soon.

Step out of your comfort zone

Pam Skripak ‘80, director of seminar, tells of a missed opportunity to get to know someone new because she was not comfortable speaking to someone who seemed so innately different from her. She encourages students to step outside their comfort zone, get to know new people, and be more curious about others. Hear her here.

Sex, drugs, and rock ‘n’ roll

This morning’s inspirational speaker was Bob Naeher, who spoke with students about the 1960s, Woodstock, and the hippie movement. He hopes today’s young people with aspire to change the world, save the environment, and attain world peace, much as those of his generation tried, but to “avoid the bad hair and silliness.” Hear him here.

Emma Bowl, hula style

The annual Emma Bowl competition took place Sunday afternoon. Each dorm hall creates skits and costumes and competes in categories such as funniest, most creative, most hall spirit. Winners get gift certificates to the school store, a pizza party, or an ice cream party. Like freshman retreat, it’s an opportunity for the girls to bond.

Freshmen @ Chingachgook

The freshman class took their annual weekend retreat to Camp Chingachgook on Lake George this past weekend. Excited for the break from schoolwork, students enjoyed high ropes courses, archery, hiking, canoeing, and team building games. The trip provides freshmen girls the opportunity to bond as a class.

Today’s activities fair in Kellas Commons gave students the opportunity to meet with members of the various campus clubs, organizations, and committees ranging from Race for a Cause to Mock Trial to the Foreign and American Student Organization.
