Emma girls were challenged to pick a container full of dandelions in exchange for a Free Fair Trade chocolate bar. Many girls took advantage of the opportunity to get outside and enjoy the great weather, while also performing some pretty impressive spring magic by turning dandelions into chocolate bars. Keep plucking Emma! Let’s take back the power from the flowers!
This weekend, starting from Friday April 19 until Monday April 22 is long weekend. Students got a final extended weekend before the school year comes to its final stretch before graduation. Seniors are busy making final college decisions and underclass women are preparing to begin studying for finals. Enjoy the break, see you Tuesday morning!
Spring break begins today at 3:20 pm and goes until April 1st. There are three spring break trips this year to exciting locations including India, England, and Spain. Everyone is excited whether they’re going on a trip with the school, a vacation of their own, or just home to have a nice relaxing break. Emma students have been working hard these past months and truly earned this break. Have a great spring break!
This past week, Emma students and faculty participated in a fun-filled Spirit Week! The themes included Animal Day, Pajama Day, Mismatch Day, Dress Like a Teacher Day, and Shero (she-hero) Day. Students and teachers alike pulled out their best (or wackiest) outfits from the closet and enjoyed the craziness of the week together. Students had their names checked off at lunch if they participated, with the incentive being an ice cream party for the winning class with most participation. After the numbers were tallied, the senior class won by a close call, thus ending a wonderful week.
Yesterday, February 23, Emma celebrated the launch of the bicentennial celebration! The year long celebration began with Emma Willard taking over Troy Night Out. Students were given a distinctive red scarf to wear as they wandered around downtown Troy, shopping and dining. At 8 pm students, faculty, alumna, and other special guests gathered at the Troy Savings Bank Music Hall for performances by Emma students and a reading of Trudy Hamners new book “Wrought with Steadfast Will” about Emma Willard. The night was a fun way to launch the bicentennial celebration!
This past Friday, February 15th, the Proctors held the annual Rave Dance! The Rave is a fun blacklight lit dance in Kiggins only open to Emma students. Students dressed for the occasion in white and neon, while dancing the night away to Dubstep, House, and Top 40 music. It was a fun filled night!
This past weekend, beginning Friday February 8th, students have been enjoying winter long weekend. This year the long weekend was extra long due to the winter storm Nemo, therefore the half day on friday was cancelled. Today students will be slowly making their way back to the snowy Emma campus to start off the next week of classes.
