Trudy Hanmer speaks to alumnae

Associate Head of School Trudy Hanmer traveled to Washington, DC on Thursday, October 23 to read from Chapter 1 of the book she is writing on the history of Emma Willard School. Over 40 alumnae and guests attended the event at the Tabard Inn off of Dupont Circle.

Women and warriors

 
A group of EW alums travelled to the Bowers Museum in Santa Ana, CA to see the Terracotta Warriors exhibit at the end of September. The LA Emmies group will be gathering November 2 in Los Angeles for a tea party and discussion of Three Cups of Tea by Greg Mortenson and David Oliver Relin.

This weekend brought the second annual Women and Power symposium hosted by Emma Willard.  Over five hundred students, parents, alumnae, and guests attended.  The symposium provided insight into how  young women can use the power of their intellect and the energy of their passion to make positive change in today’s world.

EW alum reinvigorating a movement

Amanda Poppei ‘97 was recently named head of the Washington Ethical Society. Amanda was back on campus for her reunion last September. She is a trained Unitarian Universalist minister, and at only 29 is heading the second-largest Ethical Culture congregation in the country. Read the Washington Post for the full story.
